In the Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, Defending Champion India defeated Malaysia with a clean score of 4-0 in their opening match at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar. The Malaysian team tried their best but India’s defence proved unbreakable and despite losing multiple penalty corners, the Indian side managed to convert three of them and Sangita Kumari’s brilliant last goal sealed the win for the defending
champions.
Earlier, in the inaugural match, Japan and South Korea battled to a thrilling 2-2 draw, this afternoon. Maho Ueno and Saki Tanaka scored for Japan while Mihyang Park and Yujin Lee netted for Korea.
In the second match, China thrashed Thailand with a scoreline of 15-NIL. China remained dominant throughout, scoring 10 goals in the final two quarters.
