India take 1-0 lead over Canada in Davis Cup at Edmonton

In Davis cup, India took a 1-0 lead over Canada, on day one of World group play offs at Edmonton, Canada. In the opening match this morning Ramkumar Ramanathan, ranked 154, defeated debutant Brayden SCHNUR in a marathon four setter. The Chennai lad thus remains unbeaten in the Davis Cup in 2017 season, having won all five matches he has



played.

The second singles match between Yuki Bhambri and world number 51 Denis Shapovalov is currently underway. Indian team is making its fourth straight attempt to make it to the elite 16-nation World Group, having lost in the last three years to Serbia in 2014, Czech Republic in 2015 and Spain in 2016 in the Play-offs.
