India will resume its innings at 146 for one on the third day of the fourth test match against England at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium today. Murali Vijay on 70 and Cheteshwar Pujara on 47 were at the cease at close of play yesterday .
Earlier, the visitors have made 400 runs in their first innings. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagged six wickets which was his 23rd five-wicket haul in the 43rd game. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja accounted for the other four wickets.
The day though belonged to R Ashwin
(6/112), who combined with Ravindra Jadeja (4/109) to skittle England to what now appears a manageable total. On the same pitch where the Indian spinners extracted prodigious turn and appreciable bounce, England’s Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali failed to exert any kind of pressure on the Indian batsmen. While Ali did clean up Rahul with the one that turned in sharply even as the batsman tried to drive the ball, they couldn’t create enough opportunities against the aggressive approach of Vijay and Pujara. Vijay often took the aerial route to prevent them from getting into any sort of rhythm.
