In Badminton, India’s Priyanshu Rajawat and Malvika Bansod have advanced to the pre-quarters of the US Open Badminton in Texas last night. Rajawat defeated Jan Loud of Czech Republic, 21-16, 21-16, in the men’s singles round of 32. He will take on Huang Yu Kai of Taiwan in the pre-quarters tonight. While in women’s singles first round, Malvika beat Kristin Kuuba of Estonia, 21-14, 21-15, in straight sets. She will face Tereza Švábíková of Czech Republic in the
pre-quarters.
In Men’s doubles, the duo of K. Sai Pratheek and Krishna Prasad Garaga have also advanced to the pre-quarters, defeating the pair of Scott Guildea and Paul Reynolds of Ireland in straight sets, 21-14, 21-12. The Indian duo will next take on Peter Smith and Chen Zhi Yi of USA. While in Women’s Doubles, another Indian duo of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will clash with P. Hsieh and E. Hung of Chinese Taipei in round of 16 tonight.
