The Indian women’s baseball team confirmed its qualification for the Asian Cup 2025 after beating Thailand 6-5 in the Super Round stage of the qualifiers in Bangkok, yesterday. Organised by WBSC Asia, the Women’s Asian Baseball Cup is a second-tier competition below the Asian Baseball Championship. It also serves as a qualifier from which two teams can secure a direct entry into the Asian Baseball Championship. Part of the Western Division in the Asian Baseball Cup 2025 Qualifiers, India were clubbed with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Iran in Group A of the Opening Round.

baseball team won all three of its pool matches, including a tight 2-1 victory over Pakistan, to progress to the Super Round. The top two teams from the two pools in the Opening Round made the Super Round. Indonesia took first spot and will join India at the Asia Cup. India will face off against Indonesia in the gold medal match today, while Thailand take on Pakistan for the bronze medal. This will be India’s fourth consecutive appearance in the Asian Baseball Cup, with their best-ever performance coming in the 2017 edition of the tournament when they finished fifth.
