After four silver and four bronze medals, Bajrang Punia won India's first gold medal at the 2017 Asian Wrestling Champions on Saturday.
"Since India is hosting the tournament, everyone wanted that the Indian flag be hoisted. I did my best to make that happen," said Punia after beating Korea's Lee Seungchul 6-2 in
the men's 65-kg freestyle category.
The 2014 Asian silver medallist in the 61kg category, Punia is Olympic medallist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt's prodigy. "I hope this form continues in the upcoming tournaments. Bajrang fought really well today. His group was really hard. We're all really happy," said Dutt.
