Rajkot, April 18: Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) explosive opener Chris Gayle created history as he became the first player in the history to score 10,000 runs in T20.
Playing against Gujarat Lions (GL) in Rajkot today (April 18), the West Indian superstar reached the milestone. He achieved the feat off Basil Thampi's delivery in the fourth over of the match. GL captain Suresh Raina had earlier won the toss and chose to field first.
Chris Gayle departed for 77(38) lbw off Basil Thampi's delivery in the 13th over of the match. Gayle's runs tally moved to 10,074 runs in 290 matches.
Coming into the tournament, Gayle was just 63 runs short of the 10,000 runs milestone and it was just a matter of time that he

would reach the mark.
Before today's game, he had scored 3486 runs in 95 matches in the IPL. He started his career in the tournament with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2008. After spending 3 seasons, he moved to RCB.
With the Bangalore franchise, the batsman has shattered several records and created many more.
He is the proud holder of the record of scoring most runs in an IPL innings, 175 not out against Pune Warriors India in 2013. Gayle has also won the 'Orange Cap' in consecutive two seasons, 2011 and 2012 for RCB.
The 'World Boss' as he is popularly known as made his T20 debut in September 2005. Since then the cricketer has played 289 matches.
