In the Euro Cup football tournament, Italy beat Spain on penalties to reach the final after an enthralling semi-final at a noisy Wembley last night. After Alvaro Morata’s penalty was saved, Jorginho strolled up to score and set up a final with either England or Denmark at the same venue on Sunday.
Federico Chiesa looked as if he had sent Italy - who are unbeaten in 33 games - to the final in normal time with a delightful curled finish to cap off a quick counter. Morata stepped off the bench to slot an equaliser with 10 minutes to go after a one-two with Dani
Olmo. But, the Juventus forward’s penalty miss in the shootout proved costly as Spain lost a semi-final for the first time in their history.
In the second semis to be played tonight, England will be brimming with confidence as they return to Wembley off the back of their biggest 4-0 victory over Ukraine. Denmark, however, are full with confidence after scoring 11 goals so far, 10 in the last three matches. Both teams, however, are playing in their first European Championship semi-final for over 20 years
