Jinder Mahal is the new number one contender for Randy Orton and the WWE Title after winning a 'Six Pack Challenge' on the latest episode of SmackDown Live. The match featured six of the top competitors present on the brand with the likes of Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Luke Harper, Eric Rowan, Jinder Mahal and the winner of the 2017 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, Mojo Rawley.
Jinder was paired with Rusev for most of the final months of his run on Raw before being moved to SmackDown during the Superstar Shakeup. The six-pack challenge provided a huge opportunity to Superstars who aren't necessarily used to being placed in featured positions. With arguably SmackDown's biggest star in the midcard title scene, it opened the door for Mahal to step up and reach the next level.
The last time WWE fraternity witnessed such thing was in 1999 when Vince McMahon seized the title for 6 days after he
defeated Triple H with an assist from Stone Cold Steve Austin and the special referee of the match, Shane McMahon.
Also, it is believed that WWE was keen on pushing Jinder as the number one contender for Title because of company's expansion plans in India due to the large fan base in the country and because chances of market growth is high in India.
Talking about Mahal then, the Canada-born wrestler was working largely as enhancement talent on Raw. His family is based in Punjab. If he wins the title then we will witness a new "natural heel". Heels are actually the 'bad guys' that the audience is supposed to hate on and WWE lack natural heels.
Winning of Mahal will also lead to rising in Bulked-Up Superstars as the wrestler's physique is bulky and by winning the Title, Jinder might set the trend of having the bulky physique which will be followed by other WWE Superstars.
