Kidambi Srikanth entered the quarterfinals in the men's singles for the first time in seven months but it was curtains for H.S. Prannoy, Parupalli Kashyap and P.V. Sindhu at the Hong Kong Open.

Srikanth notched up a win over compatriot Sourabh Verma in the second



round. 

He will face Olympic champion Chen Long of China next. 

While Prannoy lost to Jonathan Christie of Indonesia, Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei defeated Kashyap. World Champion Sindhu lost to Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan.
