Khelo India Winter Games to begin in Gulmarg

Srinagar: The third edition of Khelo India Winter Games will begin at Gulmarg in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir from today.  

Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur will be taking part in the opening ceremony of the five-day event today.

The sports event is being organised after the successful conduct of first two editions. Jammu and Kashmir holds the distinction to have topped in both the previous editions of the Khelo India Winter Games held so far. All the arrangements and preparations have been made by the Jammu and Kashmir Government for the successful culmination of



the mega sports event.

Mr Thakur reached the world famous Ski resort at Gulmarg yesterday. The Union Minister interacted with the sports and media persons at Tangmarg last evening. He lauded the scenic beauty of Kashmir and said that the whole nation is waiting for this mega event at the snow clad peaks of Gulmarg. The Union Minister also played cricket with the locals which was highly applauded by the youth of the area.

Over 1500 sportspersons from across the country will be participating in nine different winter sports disciplines during the five-days.
