In the Korea Open Super 500 badminton tournament at Suncheon city, World championships bronze medallist Lakshya Sen and fast-rising Malvika Bansod progressed to the second round of the men's and women's singles competitions respectively after registering three-game wins. 

While Sen defeated Korea’s Choi Ji Hoon, 14-21, 21-16, 21-18, Bansod rallied her way to notch up a stunning 20-22 22-20 21-10 win over world no 24 Han Yue of China. Sixth seed Sen will next meet Indonesia's Shesar Hiren Rhustavito while Bansod, will face sixth-seeded Thai Pornpawee Chochuwong in the second round.

In the Men's Doubles events India's pair of Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud



Panjala lost to Indonesia's Pramudya Kusumawardana and Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan 14-21, 19-21. In another, Men's doubles match India's Navaneeth Bokka and B. Sumeeth Reddy pair lost to Malaysia's Yew Sin Ong and Ee Yi Teo pair 14-21, 12-21.

World championships silver medalist Srikanth is drawn against Malaysia’s Liew Daren in his opening match today.  In Women's singles, Sindhu, who won the Swiss Open last month, will open her campaign against unseeded Lauren Lam of USA in the first round today. Indian women’s doubles pair Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy will start in the quarter-finals after receiving a bye in the first round.
