Manchester City's record goalscorer Sergio Aguero has tested positive for coronavirus, the striker himself confirmed on Thursday.
The 32-year-old was already under isolation after being identified as close contact of another confirmed case. The Argentine star took to Twitter and announced that he have had symptoms and is currently following the "doctor's order for recovery".
"After a close contact, I've been self-isolating and the latest test I took was positive for COVID 19. I had some symptoms and I'm following doctor's orders for recovery. Take care, everyone!", he
wrote.
Aguero has started only thrice for Pep Guardiola's side this season. Notably, he missed the end of previous and the beginning of current season due to a knee injury he underwent in June last year.
He has now missed his side's last 4 matches against Birmingham, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa due to isolation.
Senior players Kyle Walker, Gabriel Jesus, Ederson and Ferran Torres have also been forced to isolate in recent weeks.
Manchester city defeated Aston Villa 2-0 in the Premier League on Wednesday and extended their winning run across competitions to nine.
