The ongoing 38th National Games in Uttarakhand witnessed an exhilarating day of competition in football, boxing, and archery, keeping sports enthusiasts on the edge of their seats. In the boxing ring, Services and Uttarakhand delivered impressive performances, while in archery, sharpshooters from Manipur, Assam, and Maharashtra showcased exceptional precision.

In the thrilling final match of men’s football held in Haridwar, Kerala defeated Uttarakhand by 1-0 and won the gold medal. In the boxing competition held in Pithoragarh, a total of 13 finals were contested in the men’s and women’s categories, determining the medal winners. The Services team dominated men’s boxing, but Uttarakhand also shone, securing two gold medals for the host state. In men’s boxing, Services athletes clinched gold in the 51 kg, 57 kg, light welterweight, 71 kg, and light heavyweight categories. Uttarakhand bagged gold in the heavyweight and super heavyweight categories.

In women’s boxing, Uttarakhand’s Nivedita Karki made the state proud by winning gold in the women’s light flyweight (50 kg) category. Maharashtra’s



Divya Pawar clinched gold in the 54 kg category, Services’ Sakshi won in the 57 kg category, and Jasmine from Services secured gold in the 60 kg category. Assam’s Ankushita Boro emerged victorious in the 66 kg category, while Assam’s star boxer Lovlina Borgohain claimed the gold medal in the 75 kg category.

Meanwhile, Dehradun hosted the team events in tennis. In the women’s team tennis final, Maharashtra triumphed over Gujarat to win gold, while in the men’s team event, Tamil Nadu defeated Karnataka to claim the top spot.

The Indian round of the archery competition also delivered intense action. Archers from Manipur, Assam, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh showcased remarkable performances. In the men’s category, Manipur clinched the gold medal after a fierce contest, while Assam dominated the women’s category with a stellar display. Assam also asserted its dominance in the mixed team event, while Maharashtra emerged victorious in the men’s team competition. Chhattisgarh put up a strong performance to secure gold in the women’s team event.
