New Zealand defeated Bangladesh in the first cricket Test by seven wickets in Wellington today. Bangladesh were in command for nearly four days with imposing first innings total of 595 for 8 declared. But resuming today at 66 for 3, their second innings lasted less than 58 overs to end at 160 for 9.
Their captain Mushfiqur Rahim could not bat as he has been
hospitalised after being hit by a bouncer. New Zealand chased down the 217 run target with skipper Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor batting at more than 6 runs an over in their 163 run third wicket partnership.
The New Zealand skipper finished unbeaten on 104 with Taylor out for 60 and Henry Nicholls not out four.The second Test starts in Christchurch Friday.
