World No. 1 Novak Djokovic lost his first final of the 2022 season as he was stunned in 3 sets in front of his home crowd in the Serbia Open final on Sunday. Djokovic was bageled in the final set of the men's singles final by Russia's Andrey Rublev in Belgrade.
Djokovic came back from being a set down in all his matches in ATP 250 event in Belgrade but in the final, he wasn't able to do so. The Serb, who was playing only his 3rd tournament of 2022, went down 2-6 in
the first set before taking the 2nd set in a tie-breaker and forcing a decider.
However, Djokovic was stunned as he fell into submission in the final set to hand Rublev his first title in Belgrade. Rublev dominated most of the 2-hour and 27-minute final in which Djokovic looked far from his best.
Notably, Djokovic had headed into the home tournament looking to win his 3rd title after a disappointing 2nd-rond exit at Monte Carlo Masters in April.
