New York: In the US Open Tennis, star Serbian player Novak Djokovic cruised to the second round of the Men's Singles category with a dominant victory over Frenchman Alexandre Muller 6-0, 6-2, 6-3.
With this, Djokovic has also regained the World No.1 rank leaving Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz behind. Borna Gojo of Croatia also reached the next round defeating Bolivian player Hugo Dellien. Earlier, Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud of Norway also progressed to the second round.
Meanwhile, World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev of Russia and Germany's Alexander Zverev are all set to start their campaign later today. Defending champion Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz will
take on Germany's Dominik to start off his campaign today.
In Women's Singles, veteran Danish player Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the next round defeating Tatiana Prozorova of Russia 6-3, 6-2. Polish player Magda Linette beat Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus to enter the second round.
Earlier, star US player Coco Gauff, Defending champion Iga Swiatek of Poland also entered the second round. Veteran Elina Svitolina of Ukraine will face German player Anna-Lena Friedsam later today.
US open is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season, it began in New York on Monday.
