Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took to his social media handle to announce a cash reward of Rs 1 crore for all the players hailing from the state who were part of the Indian Hockey team that won the Paris Olympics bronze medal. Bhagwant Mann revealed that this reward is a part of their Sports Policy, which will reward the players for ensuring back-to-back Olympic bronze after beating Spain 2-1 on August 8.
Bhagwant Mann initially congratulated the Indian hockey team for their triumph, and the announced the prize money for the bronze
winners.
"Indian hockey team created history in Paris Olympics by defeating Spain 2-1 to win bronze medal...India won their fourth Olympic medal in Paris... Congratulations to all hockey teams... It is even more proud for us that there were 10 Punjabi players, including captain Harmanpreet Singh and vice captain Hardik Singh... Every player of the team played with passion," Bhagwant Mann's tweet read.
"As per our sports policy we will give 1 crore for each bronze medal players of Punjab," Bhagwant Mann's tweet read.
