New Delhi: In a move to not just get former cricketers on board, but also to inspire budding talent in the country the Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed Shoaib Akhtar as the brand ambassador of the PCB. He will be working closely with chairman Najam Sethi and the announcement was made by the chief himself on social media.
Taking to Twitter, Sethi wrote: “Shoaib Akhtar has been appointed Advisor to Chairman on Cricket Affairs/Brand Ambassador PCB.”
To this, Akhtar replied: “Looking forward to work with @najamsethi and #pcb to take PAKISTAN cricket to the next
level.”
And then went on to add that he would look to work with the same passion with which he played for Pakistan at the international level. His tweet read: “Am honored to be chosen for these positions in @TheRealPCB ,will work with same passion as i did when playing.Thank you once again! #ShoaibAkhtar #PCB #BrandAmbassador #Advisor”
The 'Rawalpindi Express' as Akhtar is fondly called, represented Pakistan in 46 Test matches, 163 ODIs and 15 Twenty20Is. He played in the 1999, 2003 and 2011 World Cup for Pakistan. He picked 178 wickets in Tests, 247 wickets in ODIs and 19 wickets in T20Is.
