Pakistan’s Ahmed Shehzad suffered a neck injury during their second T20 against West Indies in a four-match series in Port of Spain on Thursday. He showed signs of concussion and was taken off the field in a stretcher.
The incident happened on the last ball of the fourth over being bowled by Sohail Tanvir. Shehzad, while trying to stop a single by Marlon Samuels, collided with the other West Indies batsman at the crease
- Chadwick Walton. Shehzad’s neck hit Walton’s pads and he fell to the ground. He was carried off in an ambulance off the field.
“Initially, [Shehzad] showed concussion signs and pain within the neck,” Shane Hayes, Pakistan’s physiotherapist, told .
The injured player was “removed from play and sent to hospital for further investigations” via an ambulance, Hayes added.
