India's Sumit Antil has broken his own Paralympics record twice during the Men's Javelin Throw F64 final on September 2, Monday. Sumit broke his previous record from Tokyo with his very first throw of 69.11 m as the Indian star looked to be in peak form and celebrated as soon as he released the javelin, which landed at the magical figure and gave him the early lead in the competition.
Sumit would then break the record once again as he breached the 70m mark with a throw of 70.59 m with his second throw in the final to have a sizeable
lead over the rest of the competition on the day. The third throw from Sumit was 66.66 m. The fourth one was a false throw as the lead was firmly in the Indian's favour.
The fifth throw saw Sumit hit 69.04 m and remain in the lead, despite Sri Lanka's Dulan Kodithuwakku cutting the gap down. Sumit's final throw was 66.57 m, but the second one was enough for him to get the gold medal.
The Indian star's previous record at the games was 68.55 m, which helped him secure the silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics.
