Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the best to the Indian contingent for the Paralympic Games, starting August 28 in Paris. He took to social media to wish the elite Indian athletes and urged them to give their best at the Games.

India will be represented by its biggest-ever contingent -- 84 athletes, which includes 50 athletes from the Target Olympic Podium Scheme. Medal events for the Indians begin as early as the opening day of the completion -- August 29. The opening ceremony of the Paralympics will be held in the French capital on August 28.

"140 crore

Indians wish our contingent at the Paris #Paralympics 2024 the very best. The courage and determination of every athlete are a source of inspiration for the entire nation. Everyone is rooting for their success," PM Modi said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Notably, PM Modi interacted with the Indian Paralympians via video conferencing on August 19. PM Modi spoke to the likes of archer Sheetal Devi, shooter Avani Lekhara, high-jumper Mariyappan Thangavelu, and javelin star Sumit Antil among others during an hour-long interaction, urging the differently-abled athletes to shatter records in Paris.
