Top seeded Indian shuttler PV Sindhu advanced into semifinals while Saina Nehwal crashed out of the India Open in New Delhi yesterday.
World number four Sindhu defeated Beatriz Corrales of Spain 21-12, 19-21, 21-11 in the quarterfinals of the Women Singles. Sindhu will next take on third seed Ratchanok Intanon, who knocked out seventh seed Yip Pui Yin 21-11, 21-11 in her last-eight clash. Saina lost to Beiwen Zhang of US, 10-21, 13-21.
In Mixed Doubles, Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy also advanced to the semifinals defeating Chinese pair of Han Chengkai and Cao
Tong Wei 21-8, 21-13.
Meanwhile, B Sai Praneeth and Sameer Verma have crashed out of Men's singles. Pairs of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy, and Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy also bowed out of the Mixed Doubles event.
In Women's doubles, pairs of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy, and J Meghana and Poorvisha S Ram crashed out of the tournament. Ashwini and Reddy lost to Du Yue and Li Yinhui of China 17-21, 21-23, while Thai pair of J Kititharakul and R Prajongjai defeated Meghana and Poorvisha 21-10, 21-15
