Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu on Wednesday worked her way through to the second round of Malsyaia Masters Super 500 after beating World No. 9 He Bing Jiao in a stiff opening-round test in Kuala Lumpur. Sindhu needed an hour to beat He Bing Jiao in 3 games.
Sindhu had lost to He Bingjiao in the opening round of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 last month but she was gritty and determined during her opening-round win on Wednesday. Sindhu, who
has been facing stiff opening-round tests in the last few months, defeated the Chinese star 21-13,17-21, 21-15.
Sindhu improved her head-to-head record against Bing Jiao to 9-10 after the win on Wednesday.
The Indian shuttler will be looking for a strong showing at the Malaysia Masters as she has been going through a lean patch. The 7th seed was knocked out in the quarter-final by Tai Tzu Ying at the Malaysia Open last week.
