PV Sindhu made a statement of intent in Odense on Friday as she marched into her maiden Super 750 tournament semi-final of the year. Sindhu clinched a dominant win in the quarter-final of the prestigious Denmark Open tournament.

It was her second successive semi-final appearance on the tour after she had a disappointing campaign in the Asian Games. The two-time Olympic

medalist returned without a medal from Hangzhou but she made it to the semifinal of the Arctic Open, a Super 500 tournament in Finland.

On Friday in Odense, Sindhu made light work of a challenge from lower-ranked Supaninda Katethong of Thailand. Sindhu looked sharp on the court, dominating the rallies as she clinched a straight-game win - 21-19, 21-12 in just 47 minutes.
