Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu suffered an early exit from the Indonesia Open 2024 Super 1000 tournament after a first-round loss to Hsu Wen-chi of Chinese Taipei in Jakarta yesterday.
Two-time Olympic medallist and current world No. 12 Sindhu lost the match 15-21, 21-15, 14-21.
However, Indian pair Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto moved into the second round of women’s doubles after beating Canada’s Jackie Dent and Crystal Lai 21-15, 21-15.
Women’s doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, men’s singles players Priyanshu Rajawat and Lakshya Sen, as well as mixed doubles pair B Sumeeth Reddy-N Sikki Reddy, won their respective opening round matches on Tuesday and will play their next round games today.
In
men’s singles second-round fixtures, Lakshya Sen will face Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto round while Priyanshu Rajawat will take on Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn this morning.
In women’s doubles second-round clashes, Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly will take on the Japanese pair of Wakana Nagahara and Mayu Matsumoto while Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto dup will lock horns with Korean Lee So Hee and Baek Ha Na today.
In mixed doubles second round, Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy will on Chinese pair of Zheng Si Wei and HuangYa Qiong today.
In men’s doubles first round match, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will play against Malaysian pair of Wei Chong Man and Kai Wun Tee today.
