India’s P V Sindhu rode on her fine form to clinch the China Open Superseries Premier event in Fuzhou, China, on Sunday.
The Indian beat Sun Yu of China 21-11, 17-21, 21-11, to win her first-ever Superseries title.
Coming on the back of a tiring three-game match in her semifinals, the Rio Olympics silver medallist showed no signs of fatigue as
she zoomed her way through the opening game.
Though Yu won the second game at 21-17, Sindhu didn’t let that affect her as she regrouped soon and was on top of her game in the third. Banking on her quick returns, smart shot selections and a handful of powerful smashes, the Indian shuttler wrapped up the third game 21-11 to win the tie.
