PV Sindhu on Sunday came up with an intimidating performance to beat 20-year-old compatriot Malavika Bansod in the women's singles final of Syed Modi India International. Top seed Sindhu needed only 35 minutes to beat Malavika 21-13, 21-16 to win the Super 300 title at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium.

It was also the two-time Olympic medalist's first title on the circuit since her World Championships



gold-medal-winning campaign in 2019 in Glasgow. Sindhu had finished as the runner-up as last year's World Tour Finals and reached the quarter-finals of the World Championships but a title was eluding her.

Sindhu was ruthless against 20-year-old Malavika, who was playing her first Super 300 final after some impressive performances over the last 2 weeks. It was also the second Syed Modi title for Sindhu after she won the crown in 2017.
