Ramkumar Ramanathan has entered the pre-quarterfinals of the Maharashtra Open, formerly known as the Chennai Open, India's only ATP World Tour event. 148th ranked Ramanathan made it to the last-16 at Pune yesterday after he got the better of Spain's Roberto Baena, ranked 106th, in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2. For a place in the quarter-finals, Ramanathan will now face top seed and tournament favourite Croatia's Marin Cilic.

biggest upset of the day was Spanish qualifier Ricardo Lara's win over the sixth-seeded Czech Jiri Vesely. Lara, ranked 198, stunned the world number 68 with a 6-3, 7-6 scoreline.Today, India's Yuki Bhambri will begin his campaign against compatriot Arjun Khade.
The pair of Leander Paes and Purav Raja will play their opening round match against the duo of Rohan Bopanna and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan.
