India's Sania Mirza and Switzerland's Martina Hingis pair are on a roar right from last year. The Indo-Swiss pair won the Australian Open women doubles finals in straight sets 7-6, 6-3 against Czech Republic’s Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka at the Australian Open in Melbourne on Friday.
Having been pushed to the corner in the first set by Andrea and Lucie, Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza came back strongly and won it in the tie-breaker 7-6.
After the first set, Martina Hingis had
taken medical time-out to take care of her right shoulder.
The top seeds played some excellent tennis to take the second set 6-3 and win yet another title.
By this victory the top pair extend their winning streak to 36 matches on the way to a third Grand Slam title together.
The winners added to their Wimbledon and U.S. Open titles last year and the pair also won the Brisbane International title three weeks ago. They started playing together at Indian Wells last year.
