Sania Mirza and her Czech team-mate Barbora Strycova have stormed into the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells Masters in California. The fourth-seeded pair defeated the Italian-Polish team of Sara Errani and Alicja Rosolska, in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
However, in the Men's Doubles, Leander Paes and his Argentinian team-mate Juan Martin Del Potro made an exit in the opening round after losing to the American-Luxembourgish duo of Sam Querrey and Gilles Muller,
3-6, 4-6.
Rohan Bopanna and his partner Pablo Cuevas had earlier bowed out. In the Singles, world number one Andy Murray crashed out in the second round. He was stunned by qualifier Vasek Pospisil of Canada, 4-6, 6-7. Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga almost made an exit.
Stanislas Wawrinka, Tomas Berdych, Angelique Kerber, Venus Williams, Agniezska Radwanska and Simona Halep were among those who progressed to the third round.
