New Delhi, April 21: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi is moved by the gesture of the Indian cricket team for sending him a farewell gift.
A a show of respect to the Pakistani cricketer, who decided to retire from all formats of international cricket, Team India sent a signed Virat Kohli jersey to Afridi.
Responding to the wonderful gesture of his Indian counterparts, Afridi took to his Twitter handle to thank Team India and their captain Virat Kohli. (Afridi retires)
'Thank you to you and the entire Indian team for a wonderful farewell gift @imVkohli. Respect superstar, hope to see you soon,' read Afridi's tweet.
Kohli reciprocated Afridi with a message on Twitter, '@SAfridiOfficial It's a pleasure to have gifted something of importance and a lasting memory @SAfridiOfficial God bless you with everything in life See you.'
Afridi decided to pull curtains on an illustrious career which
spanned 21 long years.
Team India sent the jersey with a message, which read: 'To Shahid Bhai, always a pleasure playing against you'.
It had sigantures of the entire Indian cricket team.
The shirt had signatures of players like, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah, Suresh Raina, Pawan Negi, Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin, Hardik Pandya and Ravi Shastri.
Afridi had retired from Test and ODI cricket after ICC World Cup 2015.
He continued leading the side in shortest format until the T20 World Cup 2016.
On February 20, 2017, he officially announced retirement from all formats of the game.
Making his debut way back in 1996, the all-rounder has played 27 Tests (1716 runs and 48 wickets), 398 ODIs (8064 runs and 395 wickets) and 98 T20I matches (1405 runs and 97 wickets).
