Six of the eight quarter-final berths of the Under-17 FIFA World Cup have been decided. While Germany and the United States had entered the last-8 stage on Monday, Spain, England, Iran and Mali booked their berths yesterday. England defeated Japan 5-3 on penalties, Spain edged out France 2-1, Iran got the better of Mexico 2-1, and Mali outplayed Iraq with a 5-1 win.
In the quarterfinals,
England will take on the US, while Spain will play Iran. Germany will face the winner of today's pre-quarterfinal match between Brazil and Honduras, while Mali will meet the winner of the Ghana-Niger fixture also slated for today.
The quarterfinals will be played on the weekend, with the semi-finals scheduled for next Wednesday. The Final will be played on the 28th of this month in Kolkata.
