Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya today felicitated the Paris Paralympics 2024 Indian contingent, who returned to New Delhi yesterday. They were felicitated at a function organized in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. On the occasion, Mr. Mandaviya handed over the cheques to the medal winners. Each of the Gold medal winners received an amount of 75 Lakh rupees, Silver medalists got 50 Lakh rupees while 30 Lakh rupees were given to each Bronze medalist.
Lauding the medal winners for their performance in the Paralympics, Mr. Mandaviya said that over the last decade, the country’s performance has improved drastically leading to a record haul of 29 Medals in this
year’s tournament. The medals include 7 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze.
He added that the government is committed to providing all kinds of facilities to the athletes and coaches so that players can get better training.
Navdeep Singh who won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw F41 event in Paris has credited his achievement to the government and said that it could not have been possible without their support.
Harvinder Singh, who won a gold medal in Archery said that everyone possesses a unique talent and if they can achieve such feats every common man can do it.
