India's ace shuttler PV Sindhu advanced to the women's singles quarterfinals at the Syed Modi International Super 300 badminton tournament after surviving a tough second-round clash against fellow Indian Ira Sharma. Despite a ranking gap—Sindhu at world No. 18 and Sharma at 147—the match extended to three games.

Sindhu clinched a hard-fought 21-10, 12-21, 21-15 victory in 49 minutes. Sindhu, who hasn't won a title since the 2022



Singapore Open, will face China's Dai Wang, ranked 118th, in the next round. Wang defeated India's Devika Sihag 19-21, 21-18, 21-11 in her second-round match.

In the men's singles, top-seeded Lakshya Sen secured a straightforward 21-14, 21-13 victory over Israel's Daniil Dubovenko to reach the quarterfinals, where he will face compatriot Meiraba Luwang. Luwang earned his spot with a 21-15, 21-13 win against sixth seed Nhat Nguyen of Ireland.
