T20 World Cup 2022: ICC announces prize money for world champions

With just 16 days to go for the much-awaited tournament of the year, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the prize money for the upcoming marquee event. The global cricketing fraternity has announced that the winning side at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 in Melbourne on November 13 would receive a whopping amount of $1.6 million. The runners-up will receive half the amount. This is one long tournament with 16 teams competing for the world championship



glory. 

The prize money is not only for the winners and the runners-up, but the semi-finalists too would be felicitated with $400,000 from the $5.6 million total prize pool. The ICC has a certain amount assigned to the teams who exit at the Super 12 stage. The eight teams who make an early exit will receive $70,000 each. Following the pattern effectuated last year at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021, a win in each of the 30 games in the Super 12 phase will earn the winning team an amount of $40,000.
