The Women Who Won The Asia Cup Hockey Just Got Awarded Rs 1 Lakh Each, But Is It Enough?

Our ladies did the country proud by clinching the Asia Cup hockey tournament on November 5.

A cash reward of Rs 1 lakh was awarded to each player and there is no doubt they deserved it. But is it enough?

Let's be honest, the amount is way below par. Let's look at two recent accomplishments by women in Indian sports.

The Indian cricket team led by Mithali Raj reached the World Cup, mind it they did not win, but ended as finalists.



Guess how much they got? A whopping Rs 50 lakh per person!

PV Sindhu finished with a silver medal at the Rio Olympics last year. She got a total cash reward worth Rs 13 crore!

Well that speaks for itself. Not enough for our hockey girls, that's for sure. Why? Surely by now we should wake up and recognise achievements for what they are.

Our hockey girls have clearly not got their dues and this needs to be fixed as soon as possible.
