The Torch Relay being held as part of the 44th edition of Chess Olympiad in Chennai will reach Kerala today. The torch, which arrives at the Cochin International Airport later in the day from Kavaratti, will be taken to Marrotichal village in Thrissur district, famous for its obsession with chess. Grand Master Vishnu Prasanna will take the torch to the village, popularly known as the Chess Village of India.

Minister K Rajan, will receive the torch and hand it over to GM Nihal Sarin. Tomorrow, the torch will be taken to the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram, from where it will proceed to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. The torch relay, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will culminate at Mahabalipuram near Chennai on the 27th of this month. The Chess Olympiad will be held from July 28 to August 9.
