In US Open tennis, the Indian-Australian duo of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden won their men’s doubles opening match, defeating the Dutch pair of Robin Haase and Sander Arends 6-3, 7-5. The second-seeded Indian-Australian pair will face R. Carballés and F. Coria in the second round today, with their sights set on the title.

Moreoevr, Rohan Bopanna, will compete in the mixed doubles event with Indonesia’s Aldila Sutjiadi today.

In other men’s doubles action, India’s N. Sriram Balaji and Yuki Bhambri advanced to the second round with their respective partners. In women’s singles, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek advanced to the third round with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win over Japan’s Ena Shibara.

In men’s singles, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner cruised into the third round with a straight-sets victory against American Alex Michelsen, 6-4, 6-0, 6-2. This win marks Sinner’s 50th victory of the season. He will next face Christopher O’Connell.

Earlier, Czech Tomas Machac upset 16th seed Sebastian Korda 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the third round for the first time. Italian Matteo Arnaldi also advanced, dispatching Roman Safiullin 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.
