Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who led his side to victory against England in all three formats of the game recently, has featured in the latest cover star of the bible of cricket - Wisden Cricketers' Almanack. Kohli becomes only the third Asian origin player after Tendulkar and England all-rounder Moeen Ali to be featured on the cover of the magazine.
Year 2016 was brilliant for Kohli scoring 2,595 runs in all formats and making a clean sweep in Tests, ODIs and T20s against
England in the home series recently.
The cover image shows Kohli playing a reverse-sweep, a shot which he rarely plays in Test or limited-overs cricket. Wisden's editor Lawrence Booth said it underlines the fact that he is a very modern cricketer. It felt like the right time to get some unorthodoxy onto the cover. People often think of Wisden as a bastion of orthodoxy, but cricket is changing so rapidly that it felt like the right time to reflect that, and Kohli was the right man for the job, Booth said.
