In the Santosh Trophy football, West Bengal defeated Odisha 3-1 in the quarterfinal to qualify for the semifinals of the 78th National Championship at Hyderabad’s Deccan Arena on Thursday. After Odisha started off brilliantly with Rakesh Oram giving them the lead in the 25th minute, the record 32-time champions West Bengal put a stop to their



progress. 

They found the equalizer at the stroke of halftime through Narohari Shrestha and struck twice more via Robi Hansda in the 70th minute and substitute Manotos Maji during extra time. Bengal has entered the semifinals for the 52nd time. Another quarterfinal between Delhi and Manipur is underway in Delhi.
