In the Men’s Hockey India League, HIL, JSW Soorma Hockey Club defeated Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers 2-1 at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela last evening. Goals were scored by Prabhjot Singh and Maninder Singh for JSW Soorma, while Jugraj Singh netted the lone goal for the Tigers.
This win was significant for Soorma as it marked only their second outright victory in the league. With Phase II underway, they now need to win every game to stay in contention for the playoffs. Tamil Nadu Dragons are leading the standings with 15 points, followed by Hyderabad Toofans with 13
points.
In the Women’s section, JSW Soorma Hockey Club triumphed over Delhi SG Pipers 5-1 last evening at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Hockey Stadium in Ranchi. This victory propelled Soorma Hockey Club to the top of the standings with nine points among the four teams in the league, followed by Odisha Warriors with eight points.
Today, in the Women’s section, JSW Soorma Hockey Club will take on Odisha Warriors in Ranchi at 6 PM IST, while in the Men’s section UP Rudras will take on Team Gonasika in Rourkela at 8:15 PM IST.
