The Indian Women's Hockey team lost its opening game of the five-match bilateral series against Spain, 0-3 in Madrid last night.
The Indian eves put up a spirited performance but failed to recover from Carlota Petchame's early strike. Lola Riera, then, scored a brace to seal the game for the hosts and give
them a 1-0 lead in the series.
The second game will be played at 11 tonight Indian Time.
The tournament is part of Rani Rampal-led Indian team's preparations for the World Cup which will be played in London from the 21st of next month.
