At the Tata Steel Chess India tournament in Kolkata, World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen completed a remarkable double clinching the blitz title with a round to spare on Sunday. He made a comeback against India’s Arjun Erigaisi in the penultimate round to reach an unassailable 12 points.

Carlsen finished the event defeating Vidit Gujrathi in the final round to record three straight wins and end with



13 points, clinching the blitz crown. This victory marks Carlsen’s second double win in Kolkata, having previously achieved the same feat in 2019.

Indian players performed admirably, with Erigaisi taking third place with 10.5 points, R Praggnanandhaa finishing fourth on 9.5, and Vidit Gujrathi rounding out the top five with 9 points.
