In tennis, India’s Yuki Bhambri and his Australian partner Alexei Popyrin advanced to the men’s doubles quarterfinals of the Dubai Open last evening. The Indo-Australian duo pulled off an upset by defeating the tournament’s top seeds, Marcelo Arévalo of El Salvador and Mate Pavić of Croatia, 4-6, 7-6, 10-3. After losing the first set, Bhambri and Popyrin staged a strong
comeback in a hard-fought battle to secure the victory.
Meanwhile, veteran Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna and his Croatian partner Ivan Dodig will face off against the British duo of Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool in another pre-quarterfinal this evening. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:40 PM IST.
