The efforts of Telangana Government to spread IT to Tier II and III cities got a shot in the arm with global IT major Genpact announcing to set up of their technology centre in Warangal.

The announcement was made by the Genpact leadership after a meeting with IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao in Hyderabad. “This investment will provide a huge boost to the IT sector in Warangal,” he said expressing happiness over Genpact choosing Warangal to for its operations.

During the meeting with Genpact team, he highlighted the advantages of setting up the campus in Warangal. He also explained Telangana State government’s plans to develop urban infra in Warangal and ease the commute in the city. Warangal also has a good connectivity with Hyderabad and the corridor is fast developing, he said.

It may be recalled that for equitable development, the Telangana Government has been encouraging IT companies to set up their offices in tier II cities. It has already set up IT Towers in Khammam, Karimnagar and Warangal, where operations have already begun. Tech Mahendra, Mindtree, and Cyient, have already established



their campuses in Warangal and Genpact is the latest addition to the list. The works of IT towers in Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, and Siddipet are at various stages of completion.

“My compliments to Genpact CEO Tiger Tyagarajan and his team on supporting State’s endeavour to strengthen IT in tier 2 towns,” he added.

Genpact’s Tyagarajan noted that Warangal was close to Genpact’s Pocharam campus and was only an hour-and-a-half journey. He pointed that Warangal has a strong academic ecosystem with NIT Warangal and plenty of tier-II engineering colleges where they can get quality talent for the technology centre. Genpact will be starting here soon with a head count of 100 and currently has a global headcount of over one lakh across many countries.

Genpact members Vidya Srinivasan (Global Infrastructure and Logistics SVP), Satish Vadlamani (VP and India Operations Leader), Madhu Babu (Legal Counsel VP) were present in the meeting. IT and Industries Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Chief Relations Officer Amarnath Reddy and Digital Media Director Dileep Konatham participated in the meeting, a release said.
