Kiren Rijiju extends support to Saina Nehwal against Siddharth's remark

New Delhi: Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday slammed actor Siddharth’s remark on badminton star Saina Nehwal. He said that the comment depicted “a person's ignoble mentality”.

“India is proud of @NSaina for her outstanding contributions in making India a sporting powerhouse. She is a steadfast patriot besides being an Olympic medalist Flag of India,” the former minister of state for youth affairs and sports tweeted.

Saina Nehwal's tweet over the lapse in PM Narendra Modi's security during his visit to Punjab's Ferozepur on January 5. The security breach is now being probed by a Supreme Court-monitored committee.

Many, including Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, and singer Chinmayi Sripaada, have slammed Siddharth's tweet. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also sent the actor a notice over the tweet. Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal too reacted to the tweet and told that 'This was not nice'.
