Karnataka: Tension arose in Karnataka's Bidar district after a group participating in the Dussehra procession allegedly broke into the premises of a heritage madrassa, on the pretext of performing Puja in the early hours of Thursday. The premises of Mahmud Gawan madrasa was broken into by a mob celebrating Dussehra. Security has been deployed at the site.
After videos of the incidents surfaced on social media, the police
sprung into action and booked around 9 people for trespassing at the ASI heritage site. No arrests have been made in the case so far.
"Bidar police booked nine people for allegedly trespassing into Mahmud Gawan madrasa, a heritage site and performing puja during Dasara festivities yesterday; Members of the Muslim community staged a protest. The situation is under control," Additional SP Mahesh Meghannavar noted.
