Gurugram: Zomato recently launched its intercity food delivery service, allowing its customers to order food from nearby cities. The service called "Intercity Legends" is getting a lot of attention as foodies try to use it to order items from famous but faraway restaurants. One such customer in Gurugram recently tried the service to order biryani from Hyderabad. Unfortunately, all he received was salan -- an accompaniment -- instead of the main course.
The customer, who also holds some Zomato shares, called his brush with "Intercity Legends" double loss and tweeted to Zomato CEO about his experience.
Gurugram-based Prateek Kanwal recently ordered biryani from Hyderabad, a city famous for its spicy biryani. But after waiting for a while -- we are assuming at least a few hours -- all he got was a box of salan, a curry-like accompaniment. In his delivery box, according to Prateek, there was no rice.
Prateek posted a photo of the delivery package and tweeted out his disappointment over his experience.
“Ordered chicken biryani from Hotel Shadab using Zomato Interstate Legend service and all I got was a small box of salan,” he wrote.
He tagged Zomato’s CEO to tell him about his experience. He tweeted: "Deepinder Goyal: This seemed like a great idea, but my dinner plans are up in the air now. Now, you owe me a Biryani in Gurgaon!"
Prateek also shared how this incident was more disheartening for him as he was one of the shareholders of Zomato. So, in a way, he was disappointed at not getting his food and was also disappointed because a company in which he was invested let him down with its service. "It's a double loss for me... As a customer and as a shareholder," he tweeted.
Notably, Zomato’s customer care service took swift action and tracked down Prateek's biryani. As a token of apology, the company also sent him one extra delivery of biryani.
Prateek then shared on Twitter the quick response that he received from Zomato and thanked the company for the extra portion.
