Dehradun: Controversial social media influencer Bobby Kataria has surrendered before Dehradun court in Uttarakhand in connection with public drinking case. Just a week before, Karatia was granted bail for smoking inside a passenger plane.
The public drinking case against Kataria was filed by Dehradun police on August 11.
On Friday, Kataria surrendered before a CJM court and was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 25,000. The Uttarakhand police were on lookout for Kataria but he was dodging police for over two months.
The YouTuber reached Dehradun court on Friday with a battery of lawyers and surrendered, according to a report in Times of India.
Kataria, who has 6.35 lakh followers on Instagram, was booked by Dehradun police after a video of him pouring a drink on busy road went
viral.
Kataria's lawyer Vivek Kadyan had moved two applications including one for bail on Thursday evening. The judge sought a status report on Friday following which the influencer surrendered and was later granted bail as all charges were bailable.
The lawyer for Kataria said the bail conditions could be known only after the detailed order is received.
Meanwhile, the prosecution has said it will appeal in the court seeking seizure of Kataria's passport as he might flee the country. Around seven cases are registered against Kataria in different courts in various states.
According to prosecution officer Somika Adhikari, Karatia never cooperated with the authorities despite he being issued a notice. The PO claimed that the accused's permanent address is yet to be ascertained.
